In 2014, ESB International implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in the ERP Financial category to consolidate core financial and enterprise resource planning functions. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 operates alongside an established field asset management stack, creating a dual-system architecture where IPS®SYSTEMS serves as the operational maintenance and asset data capture layer while SAP provides the enterprise financial and ERP backbone.
The IPS®SYSTEMS deployment within ESB International is an on-premise implementation in the Asset Management Services group, covering assets from 10 kV to 400 kV. Primary IPS modules in use include Asset Management, Maintenance Concept, Work Ordering & Work Execution, supported by an extensive Asset Type Library and pre-populated task templates that enforce standardized work execution and data capture. The IPS environment recognizes multiple test file types at upload time and supports remote synchronization to a central database, enabling immediate availability of test results for reporting.
Mobile enablement was expanded in ESB Networks in 2016 through the IPS®MobApp on iPads, with online and offline capture to address weak mobile signals at remote substations. Field-collected inspection data is linked to historical diagnostic records in the ESB International IPS database to generate Asset Health Indices, which are surfaced in dashboards and interactive maps via the WebSuite module. The IPS installation has also integrated an oil laboratory test result database so Asset Health Indices are recalculated automatically when new laboratory results are uploaded.
Integration between IPS®SYSTEMS and the SAP environment exists as a manual transfer process, aligning IPS operational records with SAP ERP ECC 6.0 financial and ERP workflows until a full automated integration can be implemented. Operational governance emphasizes template-driven work assignment, synchronization controls to prevent duplication, and transparency for multi-user task completion. Planned extensions include IPS Business Process Management and IPS Topology Manager to further align operational processes with enterprise systems.
The combined architecture yields explicit operational benefits documented by ESB, including reduced risk of data loss through remote synchronization, increased on-site work time for field technicians via mobile capture and offline sync, and faster reporting of test findings once data is synchronized. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 remains the enterprise financial system in this landscape, with IPS®SYSTEMS functioning as the detailed asset maintenance and diagnostic source feeding operational decisioning.

| IPS | Legacy | IPS Energy | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2007 | 2007 |
In 2007 ESB International implemented IPS Energy as an on-premise Enterprise Asset Management solution within its Asset Management Services. The IPS Energy deployment is used by site-based and office staff via laptop computers and is embedded as the primary maintenance tool for the Maintenance department, covering all serviceable assets on the electricity network from 10 kV to 400 kV.
The primary modules in use are Asset Management, Maintenance Concept, Work Ordering and Work Execution, with the implementation founded on an extensive Asset Type Library. That library enables creation of specific, pre-populated templates tied to asset types, templates that can be partly or fully completed within Work Execution to ensure a consistent and transparent method for performing and recording maintenance tasks.
ESB Networks expanded the IPS Energy footprint in 2016 to include mobile data capture using the IPS MobApp on iPads, enabling field technicians to record substation inspection data in online and offline modes. Inspection and diagnostic data are linked to the historical database to generate Asset Health Indices, which are presented in dashboards and interactive maps with alerting via the WebSuite module. The oil laboratory test result database is linked so Asset Health Indices are recalculated automatically when new oil analysis results are uploaded, and a manual integration process with SAP is in place pending full ERP integration. Plans exist to adopt IPS Business Process Management and IPS Topology Manager to further refine process orchestration and topology-aware asset management.
Operational practices emphasize immediate capture and synchronization of test files and results, with IPS recognizing file formats to allow prompt reporting of findings to clients. Remote synchronization reduces the need for field staff to return to the office frequently and lowers the risk of data loss from hardware failure, while the template driven approach reduces task duplication and enables multi-user task completion and clear auditability.

| DigiSigner | Legacy | DigiSigner | Digital Asset Management | Content Management | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, ESB International implemented DigiSigner as a Digital Asset Management application and deployed it on the company website. The DigiSigner deployment is positioned to surface managed digital assets and document resources through the public-facing site, centralizing web-based asset delivery and document access.
The implementation emphasized core Digital Asset Management capabilities, including asset ingestion and cataloging, metadata and taxonomy management, version control, and web delivery workflows. Configuration focused on accessible file handling, preview and download controls, and role-based access consistent with a web-hosted DAM to support editorial and publishing processes.
Operationally DigiSigner is hosted at the website layer, which creates governance needs around content publishing workflows, asset lifecycle controls, and access permissions for external stakeholders. The deployment therefore touches web content owners and teams responsible for documentation and client-facing materials, requiring established publication approvals and asset management processes.
