SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Esso (Thailand) Public Company implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform. The program migrated core finance capabilities from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and centralized ledgers and financial master data for the Thailand operations, supporting a 2400 person organization. The deployment targeted corporate finance, accounting, treasury, and management reporting functions. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to deliver core financial modules including Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Asset Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management and the Universal Journal common ledger. Configuration work emphasized period end close orchestration, integrated financial reporting, and accounting automation consistent with an ERP Financial implementation. SAP S/4 HANA Finance functionality was leveraged to standardize chart of accounts and transactional posting models. The migration from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 retained transactional continuity while transitioning to SAP S/4 HANA, with interfaces preserved to existing commercial and operational systems within Esso Thailand. Integration scope covered upstream transactional feeds, tax reporting extracts, and downstream consolidation inputs, aligning with centralized finance workflows across business units in Thailand. Operational ownership remained within finance and accounting teams, with IT providing platform and data services. A SAP S/4 HANA Finance Specialist was engaged in Bangkok from June 2019 to November 2019 to drive configuration, testing and stabilization of finance processes, reflecting specialist led governance for the cutover. Governance included role based access controls, month end workflow redefinition, and a staged stabilization period for transactional posting and close cycles. The implementation emphasized finance process standardization and a controlled cutover to the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ledger.

SAP Legacy SAP BW (Business Warehouse) Data Warehouse Analytics and BI IBM 2011 2012
In 2011 Esso (Thailand) Public Company implemented SAP BW (Business Warehouse) in a Data Warehouse deployment supporting downstream operations in Thailand. The SAP BW (Business Warehouse) implementation was part of a larger SAP suite rollout that included SAP ECC, SAP WM and SAP HR delivered to the ExxonMobil Thailand downstream business. The deployment used new IBM hardware and followed two system provisioning approaches, heterogeneous system copy and the SAP SLO process for data migration. Functionally the SAP BW implementation focused on centralizing reporting and consolidated data retention consistent with Data Warehouse patterns, with ETL and data modeling work aligned to ERP and CRM source structures. SAP BW workstreams were coordinated alongside ECC, WM and HR delivery, enabling structured data flows from operational modules into the warehouse for reporting and analytics. IBM acted as the system integrator with an Asia Pacific SAP Technical Lead role, providing coaching to ABAP teams, SAP Authorization teams and application support teams. IBM also provided support for the SAP SLO data migration methodology, guidance for performance tuning, server management, vendor coordination and infrastructure team management during the rollout.
