In 2012, EWE implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as a core ERP Financial platform supporting the organization’s financial and accounting operations. The rollout began with a comprehensive assessment that spanned multiple SAP landscapes, including ERP, BI/BW, BO, SRM, CRM, PI/PO, Enterprise Portals, GRC, MII, EWM, and Solution Manager, to identify critical deficiencies and recommend targeted improvements.
SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was configured to deliver standard ERP Financial capabilities such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, and controlling, aligned to corporate financial close and reporting workflows. Configuration emphasis included master data harmonization, chart of accounts design, and automation of period-end close activities to support consistent transactional processing across the estate.
The implementation integrated the ECC instance with adjacent SAP landscapes named in the assessment, using PI/PO for interface orchestration, BI/BW and BO for reporting and analytics, SRM for procurement orchestration, and CRM for customer facing transaction consistency. Solution Manager and GRC were included in the landscape scope to provide system monitoring, change governance, and compliance controls across connected systems.
Governance activities centered on structured landscape assessment, documented deficiency analysis, and a prioritized remediation roadmap that combined technical recommendations with process-level changes. The approach positioned SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as the primary transactional financial system within EWE’s SAP ecosystem, with ongoing oversight recommended via Solution Manager and GRC components for operational control and compliance.
