In 2016, FabCon implemented IFS Ultimo CMMS to centralize maintenance operations, using the Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) application to manage work order lifecycle and preventive maintenance scheduling. IFS Ultimo CMMS became the primary platform for maintenance execution, planning and procurement workflows within the maintenance organization.
Configuration and functional modules explicitly included purchase request processing, preventive maintenance work orders, general work orders, requisitions and capital project tracking, reflecting the use of purchase request, PMs, Work Orders, Requisitions, and Capital Projects in daily operations. The platform was used to schedule and assign work orders, generate daily maintenance reports and log technical troubleshooting activities.
Operational scope covered the FabCon maintenance department supporting an eight technician team in Columbus, OH, with close coordination between maintenance and the Production Manager and direct dealings with vendors and distributors. Business functions impacted included maintenance execution, production coordination, procurement workflows and capital project oversight.
Governance and process changes centered on standardized work order assignment, formal PM cadence, and requisition routing through the CMMS, with maintenance management accountable for cost reduction and process improvement activities. IFS Ultimo CMMS was also used to record technical activities such as electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and PLC troubleshooting and limited PLC programming, providing a unified system of record for maintenance and capital work.
