In 2002, Formosa Plastics implemented IBM AS/400 as its ERP Financial platform to support accounting and personnel operations. The deployment targeted transactional financial processing for the Accounting/Personnel team and served upstream business functions across purchasing, materials, maintenance, and engineering system workflows used by the companys manufacturing subsidiaries.
The IBM AS/400 implementation encompassed core financial modules and personnel administration, with configuration and customization of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll interfaces, and purchasing workflows common to ERP Financial solutions. System analysts maintained SQL stored procedures, views, and functions and performed database data modeling for IBM databases and other relational database servers to support reporting and transactional integrity.
Integrations were implemented with operational systems for Purchasing, Material, Maintenance, and Engineering, using service oriented architecture design principles captured in technical specifications prepared for programmers. The IT team operated under Systems Development Life Cycle methodology, enforcing security authorization and privacy requirements while managing SQL databases and IBM database instances.
Governance and operational support included developing and revising system design and test procedures, training end users, troubleshooting production issues, and conducting cost benefit analysis for periodic upgrades and installations. The roadmap included plans to migrate and test the AS/400 ERP system to a web based ERP built with modern web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, SQL, and Ajax, with system analyst ownership for release testing, user training, and rollout coordination.

In 2021, Formosa Plastics implemented Ceridian Dayforce Benefits, deploying Ceridian Dayforce Benefits as its Benefits Administration platform for its United States workforce of approximately 3,000 employees. The rollout positioned Benefits Administration within the HR function to centralize enrollment, eligibility, plan configuration, and benefits reporting across the organization.
The implementation configured standard benefits administration modules including open enrollment workflows, life event processing, eligibility rule engines, plan tiering and carrier data management, and compliance reporting. Governance incorporated a Ceridian Human Resources Benefits Administrator role at Formosa Plastics Corporation U.S.A., responsible for system configuration, enrollment oversight, and benefits vendor communications.
Architecturally the solution was provisioned as a cloud hosted Ceridian Dayforce Benefits environment, aligning benefits lifecycle management with existing HR operational processes. Operational coverage focused on U.S. HR benefits administration and centralized benefits policy enforcement rather than broader HCM extensions.
