In 2014, Gannett Co implemented Infor Lawson as an ERP Financial solution to consolidate core finance and accounting capabilities across its multinational footprint. The Infor Lawson implementation included a structured data migration from Oracle into the Infor Lawson environment, with the project covering operations worldwide in five countries and multiple sites.
The deployment focused on financial modules and transaction flows typical for ERP Financial systems, explicitly configuring Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets and receipting capabilities. Project-related financial controls were addressed through Project Costing and Project Billing functional workstreams, while expense and procurement cycles were supported via iExpense and iProc related processes during the migration and cutover. Year end close activities were formalized in the application through consolidation, revaluation, recurring journal definitions, historical and daily rate uploads, mass asset retirements and new asset uploads into Fixed Assets.
Technical implementation work included bulk data migration using data loader tooling, complex query and API development, and functional-technical collaboration to transition bank-facing artifacts. The team transitioned ACH XML reporting and BI customized check templates for banks into the new environment, and provided hands on training for the Infor Spreadsheet Designer tool including insert and upload query workflows. Functional customization efforts included AR transaction and receipts integration, AR customer and AP supplier structures, AR commissions invoice flows, and multi tier tax upload logic for AR invoices working jointly with development resources.
Governance and rollout activities were executed with business owners and the design team through working sessions, user acceptance testing and formal sign off. The implementation retained ongoing compliance and control responsibilities, including running SOX compliance reports quarterly and supporting auditor evidence requests, plus operational support for month end reconciliations and remedial handling of electronic payment rejections with banks. Infor Lawson was positioned as the centralized ERP Financial application for Gannett Co to support finance, treasury and accounting operational functions.

System usage supported company wide orientation, electronic I-9/e-Verify workflows, immigration case handling, and onboarding steps required to populate Dayforce.
Governance relied on shared services metrics and reporting, with the Senior Project Manager responsible for developing metrics, analyzing trends, and recommending process and policy improvements to executive leadership and centers of excellence. Controls emphasized vendor oversight, data quality checks, compliance verification, and clear integration points between Sterling Background Check, HR operational processes, and onboarding systems.
