In 2017 GE Appliances implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as an ERP Financial deployment with a project base in Louisville, KY covering financial operations across the United States and Canada. The engagement concentrated on an Oracle Fusion Financials R13 rollout focused on core financial modules and central accounting orchestration for corporate and intercompany accounting.
The implementation encompassed General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Asset Tracking via Fusion Assets, Expense Management, Cash Management, Advance Collections, Channel Revenue Management, Credit Management, and the Financial Accounting Hub. Work on Financial Accounting Hub included setting up accounting accounts, creating and assigning sources and source definitions, enabling FAH seed data, configuring gapless event creation, enabling drill down capabilities, configuring the transaction account builder, and using the application accounting definitions loader.
Configuration work included Oracle Advance Collections where the advance collection engine was defined, collector work queues were created, scoring components and strategies were configured, dunning plans and delinquency information were set up. The AGIS module was configured for intercompany accounting with Intercompany Accounting Pages, Intercompany accounts, Transacting Legal Entity and Ledger mappings, Transacting Balancing Segment values, Trading Partner setup, intra company balancing rules, and intercompany transacting types. Fusion Assets setup used the Define Fixed Assets Configuration for Rapid Implementation flow to define flex fields, system controls, fiscal years, locations, calendars, prorate conventions, asset books, and asset categories, with bulk configuration uploads via spreadsheet.
Operational governance was led by a Senior Financials Techno Functional Lead who managed the Fusion Cloud Financials track and executed extensive testing of process flows for Advance Collections, Accounts Receivables, Financial Accounting Hub, Channel Revenue Management and Credit Management. Additional configuration responsibilities extended to Oracle i-Procurement with requisition templates, information templates, shipping networks and customer locations for internal requisitions, content security, and commodity based expense account rules. The deployment emphasized detailed module configuration, accounting event design, and intercompany accounting controls to support enterprise financial processing under Oracle Cloud ERP as an ERP Financial solution.

In 2023, GE Appliances implemented Google Cloud Vertex AI within its SmartHQ consumer app to introduce generative features that personalize cooking and appliance support. The deployment leverages Google Cloud Vertex AI as a Generative AI Platforms solution to power two distinct capabilities, Flavorly AI and SmartHQ Assistant, aimed at improving consumer experience and product support.
Flavorly AI generates custom recipes from user-provided ingredients, cuisine selection, and dietary preferences, returning tailored recipes with ingredient lists, step by step instructions, and photos. The SmartHQ Assistant operates as a conversational interface accessed via a chat bubble on the SmartHQ home screen, it crawls GE Appliances owner manuals and registered appliance data to answer use and care questions, including maintenance guidance such as water filter replacement and cleaning tips.
The implementation is integrated directly into the SmartHQ mobile application, available on Android and iOS, and is designed to function for consumers with or without a connected GE Appliance. Google Cloud Vertex AI is used to ingest and serve documentation based knowledge for support queries and to generate creative recipe content, with ongoing product updates planned, including a Flavorly AI review feature scheduled for later in the fall to capture user ratings for iterative model refinement.
Governance and operational impact focus on consumer facing product interaction, customer support, and design to customer feedback loops, reflecting GE Appliances statements about transforming its business landscape from product design and manufacturing to customer interaction. Development pacing and roadmap items were described as rapid and iterative, with model improvement mechanisms tied to user feedback as part of ongoing feature governance.
