Workflow automation and approval routing were configured to support end-to-end calibration lifecycle events, from scheduling through verification and closeout. The implementation used Emerson Asset Management's core modules to enforce data integrity and auditability for regulated processes.
The program specifically targeted calibration operations and instrument management, where GSK reported process-level outcomes. GlaxoSmithKline reported eliminating 21,000 sheets of paper per year, and streamlined its end-to-end workflow, which reduced calibration time by about 15 minutes per calibration. Those outcomes indicate digital form capture and automated record linking were incorporated into day-to-day maintenance operations.
Governance changes included standardized procedures, digital signoffs, and centralized calibration records to support compliance and traceability across maintenance and quality teams. Rollout required updating standard operating procedures and targeted training to operationalize the Emerson Asset Management workflows.
