The Cost Accountant role was integrated into the system workflow to manage inventory oversight, periodic inventory counts, investigation of discrepancies, inventory KPI ratio analysis, and estimates for reserves on obsolete or slow moving inventory, aligning ERP data with month end close activities and GAAP accounting controls. Governance changes centered on formalizing month end close procedures and cross functional collaboration between finance and operations, with process owners responsible for inventory reconciliation, cost variance investigation, and maintaining compliance related to food safety credentials. Aspen Canopy was positioned as the central system of record for costing and inventory controls within Golden West Trading, supporting structured workflows for cost reporting and operational accountability.
