In 2016, Government of Tamil Nadu deployed C-DAC Meghdoot Cloud Suite to build and upgrade the Thamizh Megam TN Cloud at the Tamil Nadu State Data Centre. The deployment delivered Application Hosting and Computing Services to provide IaaS and PaaS for hosting state electronic governance applications and disaster recovery capabilities.
The C-DAC Meghdoot Cloud Suite was implemented on an OpenStack and Eucalyptus based architecture, combining compute, storage, networking and orchestration layers to support platform and infrastructure services. Implementation included cloud enhancement work and operational management by C-DAC, and the configuration emphasized platform provisioning, tenant isolation, and automated lifecycle operations consistent with an application hosting platform.
Operational coverage was centered on the Tamil Nadu State Data Centre, where Thamizh Megam has been operational since 2016 and is hosting over 100 government applications across state departments. The engagement framed centralized platform operations and ongoing Meghdoot cloud management by C-DAC to sustain application hosting and disaster recovery services for the state.
