| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics NAV | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012 GrandVision implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV as its ERP Financial system across its international retail footprint. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV deployment served as the central ERP Financial backbone and was architected to interoperate with an enterprise service bus, e-Business/POS and POS/Till landscapes used in stores.
The implementation configured core ERP Financial capabilities within Microsoft Dynamics NAV including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable workflows, inventory valuation and retail financial posting patterns appropriate for a multi-brand optical retailer. Configurations emphasized store-level transaction reconciliation, centralized master data for products and pricing, and extensions to support POS transaction posting into NAV.
Technically the solution used an ESB style middleware layer to orchestrate integrations between Microsoft Dynamics NAV, e-Business storefronts and POS/Till systems, enabling transactional flows and catalog synchronization. The rollout covered Italy, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Greece, Russia and several Latin American countries, reflecting a multinational integration architecture and regional connectivity considerations.
Governance and execution were managed from a centralized technical implementation remit, with local country configurations and compliance adaptations per market. The engagement identified clear responsibilities for store operations, finance and IT teams, and structured phased country rollouts to align Microsoft Dynamics NAV with retail point of sale and e-commerce interfaces.
