GrDF Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by GrDF and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 12000 GrDF employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that GrDF has purchased the following applications: SAP S/4 HANA for ERP Financial in 2023, SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM) for Plant Maintenance in 2023, Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine for ML and Data Science Platforms in 2016 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems GrDF is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with SAP , Google , Microsoft or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing GrDF revenues, which have grown to $2.00 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for GrDF intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2023 | 2025 |
In 2023, GrDF began a SAP S/4 HANA implementation under the SOFIA project, deploying the SAP S/4 HANA application as its core ERP Financial platform. The initial on-site program began in July 2023 in the City of Paris and is structured to centralize financial and cross-functional enterprise workflows within the SAP S/4 HANA environment.
The implementation scope includes configuration and general design of SAP FI with subcomponents FI-AA and FI-GL, Controlling CO, Project System PS, Materials Management MM, Sales and Distribution SD, Human Resources HR, and PM. SAP Business Technology Platform is referenced as the extensibility and integration layer, and the program covers both functional and technical framing phases with ongoing design authority over module configuration and business process mapping.
Architecturally the project is organized around a SAP S/4 HANA core with SAP BTP used for extension, interfacing, and platform services, and it explicitly documents a transition from SAP ECC6 ERP Rapsodie to S/4 HANA. The narrative emphasizes centralization of finance and cross-module master data, and the implementation leverages S/4 HANA standard financial and operational functional workflows appropriate to an ERP Financial deployment.
Governance and rollout are delivered through formal project management activities including deployment strategy, solution architecture oversight, budget control, workshop facilitation, steering committees, and supervision of the framing and general design phases. The program timeline is recorded as Jul 2023 to present, with on-site execution in Île-de-France and sustained supervision of design and configuration work across the listed modules.

| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM) | Plant Maintenance | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2023 | 2025 |
In 2023, GrDF implemented SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM) to centralize plant maintenance functions. The program migrated maintenance capabilities from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 into a consolidated SAP S/4 HANA environment, aligning the deployment with the Plant Maintenance application category to manage asset lifecycle and maintenance operations.
The SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM) deployment configured core PM functional modules including equipment master, functional locations, maintenance plans, notifications, and work order management. Configuration emphasized maintenance scheduling, preventive maintenance planning, breakdown processing, and maintenance documentation capabilities consistent with Plant Maintenance workflows.
Data migration and master data consolidation were conducted to transfer equipment records and historical maintenance transactions from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 into the S/4 HANA PM system. Testing and validation activities were staffed during the rollout, including a Test Analyst role active since April 2023 in Paris, supporting test case execution, defect tracking, and user acceptance testing for maintenance scenarios. Operational coverage focused on GrDF maintenance and field operations teams responsible for executing maintenance plans and managing work orders.
Governance was established around standardized maintenance processes, master data ownership, and configuration release controls, with formal user acceptance testing and cutover procedures. Change management prioritized role based training for maintenance planners and technicians, and post go live stabilization was organized through structured issue triage and iterative configuration updates.

| Legacy | Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine | ML and Data Science Platforms | AI Development | n/a | 2016 | 2017 |
In 2016 GrDF implemented Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine as part of an ML and Data Science Platforms initiative to prototype a mobile chemical identification application for field technicians. The project used agile development to rapidly prototype the application and iterate models with short feedback cycles.
Implementation architecture centered on Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine for model training and orchestration, TensorFlow for model development and inference graph definition, and Google Cloud Storage for housing training datasets and exported model artifacts. The Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine workflow was used to run scalable training jobs and manage model versions, while TensorFlow models were exported to Cloud Storage for distribution to the mobile inference layer.
Operational scope focused on field operations and technician workflows, enabling technicians to use smartphones to identify chemical products on site. Functional capabilities implemented include image or sensor input capture at the device, model inference delivered to the mobile client, and a managed pipeline for model retraining and redeployment driven by agile prototyping cycles.
Governance emphasized rapid iteration and prototype-to-production transition under agile methods, with deployment patterns that separate cloud training and artifact storage from on-device inference. The implementation enabled technicians to identify 60 chemical products using their smartphones through Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine and associated TensorFlow and Cloud Storage components.
