In 2014, Guthy-Renker implemented Emburse Enterprise for Expense Management. The deployment targeted core finance, accounts payable, and travel expense workflows and was positioned to centralize expense reporting and policy controls across the corporate finance organization.
Configuration and functional scope of Emburse Enterprise emphasized expense report submission, receipt capture and mobile ingestion, policy enforcement and automated approval workflows, corporate card reconciliation, and audit trail and reporting capabilities. The Emburse Enterprise implementation was configured to enforce line level coding and automated routing to accelerate manual review steps and standardize spend classification consistent with Expense Management best practices.
Operationally the Emburse Enterprise deployment operated alongside Guthy-Renker's established financial landscape, where the company maintained Oracle EBS R12.1.2 for Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash, used TPSynergy EDI for trading partner exchanges, and had prior TEM program experience with Chrome River. Governance included redefined AP and travel approval processes, centralized expense policy controls, and targeted user training delivered by internal applications specialists, aligning ownership between finance, accounts payable, and travel teams.

In 2014, Guthy-Renker implemented Emburse Chrome River Travel as its cloud Travel Management solution, choosing Chrome River after a requirements review that initially considered Concur. The program was led internally by the Sr. Oracle Applications Specialist and targeted corporate travel and expense management for finance and accounts payable stakeholders.
The Emburse Chrome River Travel deployment encompassed core TEM capabilities, including expense capture and submission, travel booking coordination, policy enforcement, and multi level approval workflows configured to align with corporate spend policies. Configuration work focused on expense coding, approval routing, and ledger mapping to support the company s procure to pay controls.
The deployment operated alongside Oracle EBS R12.1.2 Procure to Pay which provided purchasing, payables, and general ledger functions for the same operational estate. Accounts Payable workflow modernization to Medius Cloud was completed under the same program, and Chrome River served as the cloud travel and expense intake system that handed transactional expense data into the broader financial ecosystem for posting and AP handoff.
Governance used finance and AP process owners to drive requirements, testing, and cutover activities, with centralized oversight during rollout. The CAO characterized the implementation as one of the smoothest they had seen, and project reporting cited one third of the original install cost and lower monthly costs than the originally considered TEM while delivering the required functionality.
