In 2017 HANSAINVEST implemented Pentaho to handle high volume file distribution and data integration from its fund accounting processes, using the application within the Analytics and BI category. The deployment centered on Pentaho Data Integration with PDI Spoon used for job orchestration and transformations and a central Oracle database serving as repository, logging and work schema.
The implementation responded to an operational scale of approximately 22,000 files per day with bursts of up to 2,000 files in a few minutes, driven by reporting needs across 240 managed funds and external counterparties in a regulated market. The scope included automated collection, copy and archival of generated report files, and exposure to external systems and companies that participate in file exchange workflows.
A core functional module implemented was the GlobalCopy process, which checks source directories for new files every two minutes and creates parameterized copy jobs that stage files with a temporary extension such as tmp. Successfully copied files are atomically moved and their tmp extension removed, source files are moved into dated archive directories formatted as archivYYYYMMDD, and directories are compressed in an overnight job to manage storage.
Operational resilience and observability were implemented using logging and error tables in the Oracle schema, and monitoring was provided by NAGIOS. Oracle SQL Developer was used for table management, and Oracle APEX supplied input masks for departmental maintenance of all configuration tables, with authorization controls applied to those APEX interfaces.
Planned evolution of the Pentaho implementation included an archival-first pattern where files are written in binary form to an archive system and orders are created that reference archive record identifiers. The order table records all transmissions, receives timestamps on completion, and supports conditional execution rules based on time, count or ready file conditions. Departments maintain configuration via APEX input masks, enabling governed change control over when and how orders execute.

Architecturally the FNZ-F Suite was provisioned as HANSAINVESTs enterprise portfolio management system and integrated into the operational stack through interfaces to external operational touchpoints common to the category such as custody, transfer agency and market data feeds. Rollout and governance centered on fund administration, operations and portfolio management teams, with audit workflows and approval controls embedded into operational processes to support day to day investment operations.
