In 2021, HBD Industries implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial platform in a company wide, multi year manufacturing ERP program. The project is positioned to centralize core manufacturing finance and operational record keeping across the enterprise and to establish Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as the ERP Financial backbone for manufacturing functions.
The implementation centered on conversion of Bill of Material and Router structures from IBM AS/400 into Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, with the Engineering Project Specialist owning BOM and routing design and data conversion activities. Configuration and module work focused on manufacturing master data, routing and bill of materials, production control, inventory valuation and operational reporting, ensuring the application design enabled administrative visibility and manufacturing optimization consistent with ERP Financial capabilities.
Operational scope included cross functional collaboration among safety, engineering, quality, delivery, productivity and maintenance teams, driven from a Dublin, Ohio base and extending to 11 physical sites. The program required coordination with site operational leaders to develop aligned manufacturing and operational reporting processes across multiple locations and to translate manufacturing functional objectives into technical system requirements.
Governance and rollout responsibilities were formalized with the Engineering Project Specialist reporting to the VP of IT, acting as the manufacturing subject matter expert on the core project team, and coordinating support team activities. Deliverables emphasized documentation of technical processes, requirements, workflows and process diagrams, and provided ongoing design and implementation support for the AX era solution architecture within Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
