In 2018, Healthix engaged Verato and positioned to adopt Verato MDM Cloud as its Master Data Management platform for patient identity services across its New York health information exchange. Healthix is the largest public HIE in the United States and the engagement targeted interoperability and enterprise identity resolution workflows.
Initial module usage began with Verato Auto-Steward, then moved to Verato Universal MPI, reflecting a progression from automated stewardship to enterprise master patient index capability. Functional capabilities implemented or inferred include automated patient matching, identity resolution, deduplication, and stewardship automation consistent with Master Data Management practice for patient identity.
Deployment aligned to a cloud-native Verato MDM Cloud architecture, scaling automated matching across Healthix HIE transaction streams rather than within a single departmental silo. Operational coverage encompassed HIE-wide patient identity services for New York constituencies, handling millions of daily match decisions and integrating into interoperability workflows across constituent systems.
Verato reported materially better matching, citing approximately 25 percent improved match rates and a shift from handling about 40,000 difficult match decisions per day to a projected 1,000,000 per day, outcomes that support centralizing master data services. Governance and workflow changes emphasized automated stewardship and centralized identity operations within the HIE, while Healthix remained a candidate to extend Verato MDM Cloud functionality into broader enterprise MDM and EMPI use cases.
