Oracle Legacy Oracle WebLogic Server Apps Development PaaS n/a 2013 2013 In 2013, HealthShare NSW deployed Oracle WebLogic Server as a central integration and application runtime component within a broader Oracle Engineered Systems platform. The deployment is classified under Apps Development and supports the statewide payroll and HR services that underpin NSW Health, including integration with Oracle E-Business Suite Human Capital Management for more than 140,000 staff and service center operations supporting clinicians. Oracle WebLogic Server was implemented alongside Oracle SOA Suite to simplify application integration and reduce deployment risk, and it is managed through Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c to orchestrate provisioning and lifecycle tasks. The environment was designed to operate with Oracle Database and to form the foundation of a Database-as-a-Service model, reducing reliance on specialized database administration and enabling standardized provisioning for future growth. The physical architecture paired Oracle WebLogic Server with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud as the chosen engineered systems, with Oracle Sun ZFS Storage Appliance providing enterprise storage and InfiniBand used for high speed backups and restores. HealthShare NSW documented expected performance gains, citing a 6 to 8 times improvement capability for the engineered systems and noting a proof of concept where Oracle Exadata executed a target process twice as fast as the nearest competitor. Applications migration into Whole of Government data centers was planned for late 2013 with full production status targeted for 2014. Operational coverage explicitly included payroll, HR, financial and procurement functions under HealthShare NSWs Corporate IT consolidation program, and the platform also incorporated Oracle Identity Management to deliver single sign-on for all NSW Health staff. Governance and process changes focused on standardization, centralized provisioning and data center reform to increase service center efficiency and provide scalable, consistent database and middleware operations across the enterprise.
