Architecturally the solution was integrated with Heerema’s SAP landscape, using a link between SAP ECC, SAP BW and SAP BPC to read profit and loss and balance sheet data from SAP FI. Balance sheets and supporting specifications were maintained inside SAP BPC, while consolidation logic was automated through exchange rate conversion rules, elimination rules and an adjusted equity pick-up process.
Governance and process changes routed data adjustments to the appropriate consolidation level so changes are immediately visible in reports, and both management reporting and consolidated financial statements were integrated within the existing SAP platform. Separate Excel reporting sets were consolidated into SAP BPC standard reports, centralizing financial close and management reporting workflows for the organization.
