| OpenText | Legacy | OpenText Vendor Invoice Management | AP Automation | ERP | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Hexion deployed OpenText Vendor Invoice Management for AP Automation to centralize accounts payable invoice intake and workflow orchestration. The implementation positioned OpenText Vendor Invoice Management as the core AP Automation application supporting invoice processing, discrepancy resolution, Goods Receipt Invoice Receipt account management, reconciliation, and month-end financial closing activities.
Configuration emphasis focused on vendor invoice capture, automated routing and approval workflows, exception handling queues, and the Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) module for structured invoice lifecycle management. Configuration work emphasized three-way matching and exception resolution patterns typical of AP Automation, with workflow business rules aligned to Hexion accounts payable policies and closing cadence.
The OpenText Vendor Invoice Management deployment integrated with Hexion SAP ERP to post invoices, update GR/IR accounts, and leverage SAP master data for vendor validation and tax treatment. Integration points centered on invoice posting to SAP financial modules and synchronization of reconciled GR/IR balances, enabling the VIM application to feed validated payables into the SAP-ledger posting process.
Operational ownership remained within accounts payable and finance, where a subject matter expert role provided day-to-day governance over invoice processing, discrepancy resolution, GR/IR account management and reconciliation, and financial close responsibilities. Process governance included exception handling workflows, reconciliation controls during close, and role-based approval routing to enforce AP controls within the OpenText Vendor Invoice Management environment.

In 2018, Hexion implemented Nakisa Lease Administration to meet IFRS 16 and ASC 842 compliance requirements. Nakisa Lease Administration was adopted as a Lease Management solution providing lease management, accounting, compliance and reporting capabilities that natively integrate with SAP.
The implementation focused on centralized lease contract capture and lease accounting workflows, establishing a single lease repository to support disclosure and auditability. Configuration emphasized automated accounting events and journal generation, lease lifecycle tracking, and standardized reporting templates to support statutory and management disclosures.
Integration work centered on the native SAP connection to synchronize master data and post lease accounting entries to the general ledger, enabling finance teams to align lease accounting with existing SAP financial processes. Operational coverage targeted corporate finance, accounting and lease administration functions, consolidating lease data for compliance and period close activities.
Governance changes included the introduction of standardized lease accounting processes, centralized control points for lease data quality, and structured reporting governance to support IFRS 16 and ASC 842 disclosure requirements. The Nakisa Lease Administration deployment reinforced consistent lease accounting workflows and traceable audit trails across Hexion’s finance and lease administration operations.
