In 2020, Hobbycraft implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, an ERP Financial solution. The deployment was scoped to centralize core finance and retail commerce processes onto Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to support the companys retail operations and ecommerce channel.
The implementation emphasized standard ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory control, and order to cash and purchase to pay workflows aligned to retail operations. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was configured to support finance ledgers and inventory management, with configuration workstreams for chart of accounts, posting groups, item tracking, and operational workflows typical for a mid market retail ERP.
Execution included integration work that built on an existing NAV integration to the Salesforce website, moving commerce and order data flows into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as the central transactional system. Project governance was run by a dedicated project manager who owned end to end delivery, provided regular reporting to senior leadership, and enforced project controls and change request processes throughout the rollout.

| LS Retail | Legacy | LS Retail Central | Retail Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2013 | 2014 |
In 2013 Hobbycraft implemented LS Retail Central as the core Retail Management platform within a Microsoft Dynamics based retail stack. The program targeted a 15 month delivery window starting in July and completing in September the following year, with the implementation deliberately aligned to finish ahead of the Christmas trading period. The rollout covered the full retail footprint, growing the estate from 50 to 75 stores during the program, and encompassed the company distribution centre, finance function, merchandising, supply chain and store operations. Business functions impacted included finance, warehousing, core merchandising and store replenishment workflows.
The implementation sequence prioritized the financial system first, followed by the warehousing module, then the core merchandising system including supply chain and ranging, and finally the stores system. Hobbycraft elected to use out of the box LS Retail Central functionality where possible, adapting business processes to fit the standard configuration to meet aggressive timelines. A programme office was established and staff were seconded from across the business into a central programme team to maintain focus on configuration, testing and pilot activity. The merchandising scope explicitly included supply chain calculations and SKU level replenishment logic.
LS Retail Central was delivered as part of an integrated solution with Microsoft Dynamics as the ERP layer, and key operational processes such as the overnight replenishment run were implemented to generate DC picking orders across the estate. Hosting moved to a cloud pay as you consume model to avoid capital expenditure on hardware and software and to support thin client strategies. During rollout the overnight processing experienced throughput issues after a platform change from Intel to AMD processors, which was diagnosed over a four month period and resolved to stabilize batch windows. Operational coverage included store point of sale, DC fulfilment, merchandising planning and finance reporting across the United Kingdom.
Governance emphasized risk containment and rapid decision cycles, with an extended pilot period of three to four weeks for stores to limit business disruption. The programme expanded supply chain team capacity from a small group to a larger dedicated function to support new processes. With LS Retail Central and Microsoft Dynamics in place Hobbycraft planned incremental capability expansion, targeting standard multi channel features such as home delivery, click and reserve in store, and order in store to be activated as part of subsequent releases.
