In 2014, Holland America Line implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform. The R12 reimplementation was carried out under the direction of the Carnival Corporate Project Management Team, with a senior manager acting as Holland America Line primary lead for the program.
The implementation concentrated on core finance capabilities, explicitly addressing General Ledger GL, CE, Accounts Receivable AR, Accounts Payable AP, Purchasing PO and iExpense functionality. The project team validated Oracle R12 E-Business Suite design and configuration, managed process documentation, and executed four successful test cycles while maintaining Oracle 11i production support through a team of system administrators.
Operational coverage included financial systems and financial project management, with subject matter experts and internal project leads coordinated to define test cycle procedures, communication protocols and process validation across finance functions. Functional workflows emphasized accounts receivable and expense reporting, accounts payable, procurement to pay orchestration, and ledger controls consistent with ERP Financial processing.
Governance was structured around Carnival Corporate project oversight, centralized testing governance, and SME-driven validation to drive rollout readiness. The internal lead documented test cycle expectations, provided troubleshooting and resolution support, and managed the successful implementation of Oracle iExpense and Accounts Receivable modules within the broader Oracle E-Business Suite program.

In 2016, Holland America Line implemented bswift as its Benefits Administration enrollment portal to support the company Benefits department. The project covered vendor discovery and selection of bswift and progressed through system interface design, testing, and implementation for the 4,000 office-based employees of Holland America Group.
The bswift deployment focused on core Benefits Administration capabilities, including employee self-service enrollment workflows, benefits elections and eligibility rule configuration, and administrative enrollment consoles for benefits teams. Implementation work included configuration of plan offerings, enrollment windows, and standard benefits reporting and audit workflows consistent with benefits administration practices.
System interface design and testing were central to the initiative, with technical requirements managed end to end by the Benefits team. Interfaces were built to support electronic carrier connectivity, enrollment file exchange, and synchronization with the enterprise HR and payroll systems through standardized data feeds and interface validation processes.
Governance was organized around the Benefits department owning business rules and enrollment policies, while technical change control covered interface testing and deployment sequencing. The rollout delivered bswift as the Benefits Administration portal for office-based employees after staged testing and validation, with the project scope explicitly including selection, interface design, testing, and implementation activities.

In 2014, Holland America Line deployed Microsoft Power BI as part of an Analytics and BI initiative that consolidated reporting and self service dashboards. The work sat alongside SQL Server Reporting Services and database platform upgrades to establish a unified reporting stack for operational and decision support reporting.
The implementation included creation of drill down and drill through reports using SSRS, plus highly parameter driven SSRS reports to support flexible operational queries. Microsoft Power BI dashboards were built to surface KPIs for core business decisions, while SQL Server Analysis Services cubes were developed from dimension modeling to provide measures, measure groups, hierarchies, and dimensions through configured data sources and data source views.
Technical migration activities included moving SSRS reports and SSIS packages from SQL2005 to SQL2008R2, and using SQL Server Profiler to trace stored procedure calls for performance tuning of slow running SSRS reports. Cube design used fact tables and dimension tables to structure analytical workloads and feed Power BI dashboards, with explicit configuration of data sources and data source views in SSAS.
Operational governance involved active daily scrum participation for status updates and use of JIRA for logging project updates, and ongoing user support to fix issues related to reports and cubes. Holland America Line Microsoft Power BI Analytics and BI reporting supported core business decision making and operational reporting functions across the enterprise.
