In 2023, Hudson Cook implemented Centerbase as its Legal Practice Management solution to consolidate firmwide operations across all 12 offices. The cloud-based Centerbase deployment addressed attorney and staff needs for mobile time and billing, centralized workflows, and more configurable reporting than prior provider configurations had allowed.
Centerbase was configured to recreate and streamline core functional modules including billing, collections, client intake, expense processing, contact management, calendaring, CRM capability, mobile timekeeping, and advanced reporting with custom dashboards. The implementation team worked directly with Melissa McLean, Accounting Manager, and Laura Pfenning, Legal Project Manager, to capture information in a single point of entry and eliminate previous multi-step manual processes.
The deployment integrated with the firm’s document management system NetDocuments to enable seamless document and workflow management between systems. With all 12 offices connected to the cloud platform, updates are reflected instantly across the firm, improving collaboration and data accuracy and enabling attorneys to view client contacts and track time on the go.
Governance and rollout involved close collaboration with Centerbase’s customer success resources and substantial time invested by Hudson Cook staff, which improved ticket turnaround and ongoing support. The implementation emphasized workflow automation and process standardization for collections and reporting, with the Centerbase team and internal project leads iterating on configuration during migration and post-go-live.
Outcomes reported by the firm include a 22% reduction in zero-to-90-day receivables attributed to an automated collections workflow that sends reminders at 30, 45, and 60 days, and more than 5 hours saved per week on reporting due to advanced reporting and custom dashboards in Centerbase. The unified, cloud-based Legal Practice Management platform centralized client intake, expense tracking, collections, and contact management while enabling mobile timekeeping and clearer visibility into billed and unbilled time.
