Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP Financial ERP n/a 2012 2013
In 2012 Hudson Group launched a concentrated program to operate and extend Microsoft Dynamics NAV as the companys ERP Financial system for its duty-free retail operations. Microsoft Dynamics NAV functioned as the central, heavily customized, integrated application supporting finance and retail workflows across the duty-free business. The implementation focused on core finance and retail modules, including accounts payable, inventory control for dutiable goods, point of sale transaction handling, and tax calculation and reporting. Teams continually assessed business needs and developed system modifications within Microsoft Dynamics NAV to address evolving regulatory requirements and store-level variability. Operational coverage included duty-free stores, bonded warehouse inventory, and finance operations that required formal accountability to the US Customs and Border Protection Agency. The project scoped and managed an inventory and accounts payable tracking solution for dutiable goods in bonded warehouses, and implemented programs to calculate and report Canadian provincial and federal taxes, specifically PST, GST, and HST, tied into Microsoft Dynamics NAV workflows. Governance and rollout were managed through a centralized project and change control approach, with program leadership directing POS rollouts where each location had unique requirements that were configured in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV environment. The implementation delivered compliance-focused controls, and explicitly eliminated major fines previously incurred during government audits in the range of $12,000 to $15,000 by meeting customs and tax reporting obligations.
