In 2022, iFood deployed the Blip Conversational Platform to automate restaurant partner onboarding on WhatsApp. The deployment used Chatbots and Conversational AI to support sales and partner acquisition processes across Brazil starting in the second half of 2022.
Implementation focused on an automated Self Sign In flow and an AI assisted menu generation flow within the Blip Conversational Platform. The solution configured conversational workflows and automated prompts to capture partner details and guide restaurants through menu submission and generation steps for partners that lacked menus.
The Blip Conversational Platform was integrated with WhatsApp as the primary engagement channel for restaurant partners, and the automated flows reduced transfers to human support, changing partner support handoff procedures. Operational coverage targeted sales and partner acquisition teams and partner success functions in Brazil, with the platform escalating to human agents only for exceptions or complex cases.
The deployment increased automated flow conversion by approximately 26 percent, unlocked about 34.6 percent of partners who lacked menus, and delivered customer satisfaction around 97.6 percent while reducing transfers to human support. Rollout began in the second half of 2022 in Brazil, aligning onboarding and partner acquisition workflows with conversational automation provided by the Blip Conversational Platform.

In 2021, iFood implemented Tableau as a central component of its Analytics and BI environment to institutionalize data driven decision making across the business. The deployment supported a high scale operational footprint, with iFood handling more than 60 million deliveries per month, over 270 thousand registered restaurants across more than 1,200 Brazilian municipalities and operations in Colombia, and more than 2,700 active Tableau users forming a motivated analytical community.
iFood designed a structured training curriculum, Brain Academy, that maps directly to Tableau capabilities. The curriculum includes the 2 in 1 course consisting of Prato Feito and Self service focused on Tableau Web and Tableau Server usage for business users, Gourmet which teaches Tableau Desktop from basic to pro with about 10 hours of video and approximately 85 hands on activities, and the 5 Star advanced Tableau Desktop module covering forecasting, level of detail calculations and data blending, with an additional Michelin track planned to cover deeper technical topics such as database preparation. Course development was executed in house beginning in December 2019, with the initial modules completed in three months, the 5 Star course launched at the end of June 2020 and Gourmet launched in September.
Operationally the Tableau implementation is integrated into iFood learning and collaboration platforms to scale adoption. Brain Academy content is hosted on the Degreed learning platform to aggregate internal and market courses into learning paths, community support is channeled through a Slack #tableau-community channel and the company Workplace social network, and monthly recorded webinars extend asynchronous learning. Governance around Tableau Desktop access requires completion of the Gourmet course before applying for a Tableau Desktop license, and learners are required to download the Tableau Desktop trial and complete the Gourmet course within the trial period to validate proficiency.
Governance and community management are run by the DataViz Engineering team, which analyzes course results and engagement through an internal Tableauzometer metric showing near 100 percent positive reviews for the three Tableau courses. Brain Academy is embedded into onboarding with two week learning trails for analyst, scientist and data architect roles, reward kits and completion seals incentivize participation, and the program has scaled to more than 800 concurrent learners in courses and to over 2,900 non data team FoodLovers making daily decisions based on data. These elements together position Tableau and the Brain Academy curriculum as the operational backbone for iFood’s Analytics and BI driven decision processes.
