In 2004, Informa Research Services implemented Microsoft Power BI as part of an Analytics and BI platform to deliver client-facing dashboards and executive reporting. The deployment targeted pricing and competitive intelligence workflows for deposit and lending products and provided visualization and KPI delivery for internal data analysts and executive stakeholders.
Implementation included designing dashboards and KPI reports for clients, multiple business units and the CEO using Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services and Microsoft Power BI for visualization, reporting and model-driven dashboards. The program conceptualized business-user friendly pricing solutions that leveraged the Microsoft BI stack, APIs and analytics workflows to support price optimization and competitive benchmarking. A deposit, loans and fees SaaS offering was designed and developed to address common analytic needs with templated analytic capabilities and packaged reporting.
Integrations explicitly incorporated Microsoft SQL Server and SSRS with API-driven data exchange feeding Power BI semantic models, enabling analysts to query consumer deposit datasets and competitive indices. Operational coverage included client reporting, business unit analytics and executive dashboards, with primary consumers identified as data analysts and pricing and competitive intelligence teams. The architecture combined centralized data warehousing, ETL into SQL Server and a presentation layer composed of Power BI reports and dashboards.
Governance and process work centered on developing, procuring and managing KPIs, standardized monitoring and reporting definitions, and workflows to ensure KPI consumption by analysts and stakeholders. A competitive intelligence framework was built to track national and regional indices and to monitor regional price competitor deposit pricing, formalizing cadence for measurement and reporting.
