Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2019
In 2019, Jisc implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its core finance application. The Head of Finance Systems and Projects led the tendering, build and deployment work that began in 2018 and has since run the Finance Systems team responsible for ongoing systems, data and enhancement management for the finance estate. The implementation was executed as an ERP Financial deployment, with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations configured to provide core financial management capabilities. The configuration scope emphasized general ledger control, accounts payable and receivable workflows, fixed asset accounting and procurement-related financial posting, aligned with statutory reporting requirements and finance operational processes. Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations was integrated into Jisc Group CTO data platforms to support analytics and statutory reporting. Finance transaction and master data are ingested and shaped into Finance and HR data lakes hosted in Azure, while the broader operational analytics environment includes a Data Warehouse in AWS Redshift fed from over 80 data sources across Jisc products and services. These data pipelines enable provision of finance data to product owners, data analysts and business users. Governance of the application and downstream data flows is managed by the Finance Systems team in coordination with the Group CTO analytics team, focusing on well managed data platforms, controlled data access and standardized data provisioning. Operational coverage centers on the finance function and statutory reporting obligations, with the system maintained for ongoing enhancements and support by the internal Finance Systems team.
