| Aptean | Microsoft Dynamics NAV | Aptean Food & Beverage ERP | Food and Beverage ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2023 | 2023 |
In 2023, Joseph Gallo Farms implemented Aptean Food & Beverage ERP, a Food & Beverage ERP, to centralize manufacturing, warehouse and sales operations. The project followed a decision to move off Microsoft Dynamics NAV and retain a Microsoft Dynamics based architecture, leveraging Aptean Food & Beverage ERP for industry specific functionality. Implementation covered core food manufacturing and distribution workflows across the organization, aligning production, inventory and order management under a single application.
Aptean Food & Beverage ERP was configured to use out of the box food industry capabilities, including license plating for pallet level inventory control, catch weight management for variable weight cheese items, and a mobile solution for warehouse data capture. The deployment also incorporated Power BI for operational reporting and dashboards, enabling managers to consume real time data from the ERP. Configuration emphasized catch weight recording alongside primary units of measure to support pricing and sales by exact weight and standard unit.
The implementation architecture retained Microsoft Dynamics foundations while integrating Aptean’s mobile handheld scanning and Aptean EDI application, providing a connected data flow from warehouse floor to sales order creation. Mobile devices with barcode scanning were deployed to capture inventory movements in real time, ensuring immediate updates to on hand quantities and locations. EDI integration reduced manual order entry by automating the conversion of customer purchase orders into sales orders within Aptean Food & Beverage ERP.
During rollout Joseph Gallo Farms and Aptean conducted a business process evaluation that produced procedural changes beyond software configuration, standardizing workflows and governance across production and warehouse operations. The program emphasized a single version of the truth by consolidating transactional data in Aptean Food & Beverage ERP, and established stewardship for inventory, catch weight reconciliation and warehouse procedures. Training and process refinement were used to embed the new workflows into daily operations.
Post implementation results documented included tighter control and visibility of warehouse contents through license plating, real time, error reduced inventory updates from mobile scanning, catch weight support for selling and pricing cheese, and actionable dashboards via Power BI. The combined Aptean Food & Beverage ERP solution and process changes delivered improved operational transparency across Joseph Gallo Farms manufacturing, warehouse and sales functions.
