In 2018 Just Eat Takeaway implemented Workday Absence Management as part of a broader Workday HRIS rollout. The deployment delivered the Absence and Leave Management capability into the companys global HR function and was aligned with concurrent Workday module launches.
Implementation scope centered on a global Workday footprint that included Core HCM, Advanced Compensation, Recruiting, Learning and Talent Management, with Workday Absence Management configured alongside those modules. Workday Absence Management was implemented to support standard absence workflows, leave entitlements, accrual calculations and manager approval routing consistent with Absence and Leave Management functional patterns.
The implementation was executed by an internal HRIS organization that grew to about 15 HRIS specialists, and the program included harmonization of several acquisitions from an HRIS perspective, including Just Eat, Delivery Hero 10Bis and BGMenu, into the unified Workday tenant. Integration focus remained within the Workday suite, ensuring entitlement, absence and employee data were consistent between Workday Absence Management and Core HCM, and aligned with compensation and talent processes.
Governance and rollout were managed through the global HRIS function, with the Global Manager HRIS and the HR Management team, reporting into the CHRO, owning design, configuration and the HRIS budget. The implementation emphasized global design and rollout practices, job framework alignment and centralized configuration to enforce consistent absence policies across regions.
