In 2023 Kemira implemented SAP S/4HANA Cloud as its ERP Financial platform. As of June 1, 100% of Kemira was live on SAP S/4HANA Cloud following a big-bang go-live and a platform update into Azure Cloud, executed under a company-wide program named LEAP that encompassed five initiatives.
The implementation delivered a redesigned financial accounting core and a ONE Finance transformation, with configuration work focused on SAP S/4HANA margin analysis and standardized financial processes. Kemira also deployed SAP Analytics Cloud for reporting, analytics, and financial planning, and adopted SAP Datasphere as the next-generation enterprise data warehouse to centralize reporting and data models.
Architecture and integration work included a selective data transition from SAP ERP Central Component SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, migration of on-premise interfaces, and conversion of over 360 interfaces onto SAP Business Technology Platform using SAP Integration Suite. The solution landscape therefore spans SAP S/4HANA Cloud for transactions, SAP Datasphere for the enterprise data warehouse, SAP Analytics Cloud for front-end analytics, and Azure Cloud as the hyperscaler for infrastructure.
The rollout covered 400 plants in 37 countries and was preceded by a comprehensive pre-study to determine which processes to migrate as-is and which to redesign, enabling a fast value approach. Kemira worked with cbs Corporate Business Solutions as a strategic implementation partner, leveraging combined in-house expertise to manage organizational change, data harmonization, and interface migration within a 15 month delivery window.
The program emphasized business continuity and a platform for future innovation, with a smooth go-live and a company-wide shift toward data-driven business models. SAP S/4HANA Cloud now serves Kemira as the ERP Financial backbone supporting finance, accounting, planning, and integrated process control while positioning the company to consume future SAP innovations.
