In 2023, Keystone Dedicated Logistics led the integration effort connecting Epicor Prophet 21 Distribution ERP to a third party transportation management system for Questar. The engagement centered on integrating Epicor Prophet 21, the core Distribution ERP application, with KDL Connects APIs to automate shipping and billing workflows.
KDL configured Epicor Prophet 21 to surface carrier selection and freight quoting on the order screen so customer service could make routing and pricing decisions without leaving the ERP. Orders flagged as ready to ship are transmitted to the TMS as draft shipments, and final shipped status and carrier data are written back to Epicor Prophet 21 to trigger invoicing.
Technical implementation combined KDL Connects API endpoints with custom programming developed by Mind Harbor, an independent systems provider selected through KDL's vendor vetting process. The integration used API driven order and shipment exchange between Prophet 21 and the TMS, enabling a direct data flow that reduced manual handoffs across shipping, operations, and billing functions.
KDL managed partner selection, presenting two options and coordinating alongside Mind Harbor during development and cutover, preserving simple integration patterns and clear process ownership. As a result customer service, shipping, and billing teams now operate on a shorter, more accurate end to end cycle, with freight quotes issued from orders and shipped data expediting customer billing.
