In 2014, Kinokuniya trialed and deployed the TimeTec FingerTec TA102 at its Suria KLCC outlet in Malaysia. The installation used Time Clock (Hardware) devices supplied by TimeTec and was provisioned on-site through SI/VAR PC Mart.
The TimeTec FingerTec TA102 was configured to support HR time and attendance and basic access-control workflows, using fingerprint biometric capture and terminal-based clock-in and clock-out processes. Functional usage aligned with standard time-and-attendance modules, including employee biometric enrollment, timestamp logging, and local terminal authentication to reduce buddy-punching and accelerate check-in cadence.
Operational scope was confined to the Suria KLCC retail site and affected retail floor and back-of-house staffing processes, shifting routine attendance capture from manual methods to device-driven workflows. Deployment activities included device provisioning, employee biometric enrollment, and adjustments to clock-in procedures to integrate the hardware into store operating routines.
Reported outcomes from the deployment included improved staff time-and-attendance accuracy, reduced buddy-punching, and faster clock-in and clock-out that eased queues during peak periods. The implementation demonstrates a focused Time Clock (Hardware) use case for retail HR and access-control at a single store level using the TimeTec FingerTec TA102.
