After the initial rollout Lansforsakringar added a web interface to IBM Life/400 to simplify operations and onboarding in Sweden, improving system usability and reducing training times for staff. Governance and process changes focused on user training and operational onboarding to align staff procedures with the new web-enabled policy administration processes.

In 2021, Länsförsäkringar AB began deploying IBM Cognos Analytics as part of a broader upgrade to its IBM Cognos suite, aligning the initiative to its Analytics and BI strategy for enterprise reporting and self-service visualization. The program is positioned within the group finance and business control domain at the Swedish insurer, addressing the need for transparent, real-time financials across the alliance of regional companies.
The deployment built on an on-premises IBM Planning Analytics with Watson installation that Länsförsäkringar AB had already implemented for companywide planning, budgeting and forecasting. Planning Analytics was configured to pull a single source of performance data from general ledger and human resources applications, to support driver-based models and to provide user-friendly dashboards and automation for planning cycles.
IBM Cognos Analytics was designed for data preparation, interactive analysis and visualization, and to complement the organization s existing IBM Cognos Controller for closing, consolidation and regulatory reporting. The implementation scope explicitly covers group-level and business-level decision makers, enabling managers across the 23 alliance companies to access self-service dashboards, drill capabilities and an AI-powered chatbot for recommendations.
Attollo AB served as the implementation partner, reusing development work from Planning Analytics to accelerate Cognos Analytics deployment, and applying a user-centric rollout approach. Governance and rollout practices prioritized iterative user input during design and development phases to increase acceptance and manager ownership of cost and forecast data.
Outcomes described by the organization include shorter planning cycles, increasing frequency from two to ten cycles annually, enhanced accuracy of long-term forecasts, and greater managerial involvement in cost management. The Cognos suite integration also supports more efficient compliance and consolidated financial reporting through continued use of IBM Cognos Controller.
