Operational coverage included dispatchers and the planning organization, with centralized planning and data flows touching sales, distribution, freight and purchasing departments to improve cross functional coordination. Governance and process changes emphasized centralized planning and tighter workflow orchestration between planning teams and commercial functions, enabling quicker dispatcher support and reduced planning times. As implemented, Layher benefits from optimised tours with vehicles and containers loaded to full capacity, heightened planning security, increased delivery reliability and dependability, decreased transport and logistics costs, improved internal and external communication, and efficient utilization of packaging material by taking specific packing rules into account.
