In 2020, Legal & General Group deployed Microsoft Power BI as the central Analytics and BI tool to consolidate management information production for Defined Contribution Operations in Cardiff. The initiative focused on delivering routine MI and operational insight to DC Operations stakeholders and the immediate and wider operations team.
Microsoft Power BI was configured to support regular daily, weekly and monthly reporting, with development and maintenance of Power BI reports performed by a designated Business Intelligence Analyst who held the DA-100 certification. Report development included dashboard design, scheduled refresh patterns and data integrity validation to ensure consistent MI production.
The role provided first line technical support for strategic MI and work management systems, maintaining ongoing system data integrity and defining and agreeing requirements for ad hoc reporting requests. Power BI training was delivered within the immediate and wider team to establish governance for report creation and self-service consumption, while VBA development and targeted automation work explored opportunities to reduce manual processing in operational workflows.
Operational coverage concentrated on DC Operations business functions and MI production processes, with governance anchored in requirement capture, training, support handoffs and controlled report ownership. Microsoft Power BI functioned as the primary Analytics and BI platform for orchestrating insight delivery and routine operational reporting within the Cardiff team.
