In 2014, Leoni implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in the ERP Financial category to stabilize business-critical financial processing as company growth increased. The program moved SAP applications to a private cloud on IBM Power Systems, driven and executed by IBM Global Technology Services.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment focused on core ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable to support centralized financial transaction processing and reporting, and was aligned with Industrial Products Solution components and SAP for Automotive in the application landscape. The architecture used IBM Power 770 servers running IBM AIX with IBM Storwize V7000 storage to host the SAP database and application layers in a private cloud configuration. Configuration work included performance tuning and consolidation of compute resources to optimize batch windows and transactional response.
Integrations included co-hosted SAP for Automotive applications within the same private cloud footprint to preserve end to end order to cash and production planning workflows supporting just in time delivery objectives. Operations coverage spanned enterprise finance and manufacturing IT systems, with project planning designed to avoid unplanned downtime during cutover. IBM Global Technology Services provided migration planning and execution services for the private cloud build out and cutover.
Governance emphasized tightly managed cutover windows and staged migration to minimize operational risk, with IT and business stakeholders coordinating rollout sequencing and acceptance testing. Reported outcomes from the engagement included migration without financial risk, no unplanned downtime, a 49 percent improvement in response times and a 50 percent reduction in processor count, and Leoni leadership credited IBM for effective project planning and performance gains. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation therefore centralized ERP Financial processing on an IBM Power Systems private cloud to address performance and scalability constraints.
