| IFS | Legacy | IFS ERP | ERP Financial | ERP | Anthesis | 2020 | 2021 |
In 2020, LGC implemented IFS ERP as its core enterprise system in the ERP Financial category to support a global life sciences footprint encompassing multiple offices and laboratory sites. The deployment of IFS ERP covers around 3,000 users across the organisation, with approximately 1,500 users accessing core IFS modules and the remaining users as light users leveraging HR self service capabilities and other streamlined functions.
The IFS ERP implementation in LGC spans finance, manufacturing and distribution modules, with HR self service configured for broad internal consumption. Configuration emphasized core transactional processing and user role segmentation, ensuring light user access for service tasks while maintaining full module access for operational staff who run finance, production planning and distribution workflows.
Operational support and capacity were extended through a strategic engagement with Anthesis, the UK channel partner for IFS, which began with a 1,000 hour per month pilot and moved to a dedicated Anthesis IFS team. Anthesis provides 24 hour support coverage and an offshore support team that handles technical and functional tickets, while making use of LGC’s in house case tracking system to receive, process and record service requests and coordinate resolutions.
Governance was restructured to split day to day support between the internal ERP team and Anthesis, with a current 50 / 50 split of job tickets and internal teams retaining ownership of business level support and strategic project work. The move followed an intensive internal period while upgrading to IFS Apps 9, and the dedicated Anthesis team was positioned to free internal resources for acquisition related integration projects and other strategic initiatives.
The dedicated support model delivered a measurable reduction in outstanding job tickets, falling from a backlog of about 450 to roughly 150, representing a near 70 percent reduction in job tickets according to LGC. This outcome enabled the internal ERP team to prioritise project work while Anthesis continues to expand its remit, with potential to absorb additional business level queries and tickets currently routed back to IFS.

| LabWare | Legacy | LabWare LIMS | Laboratory Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, LGC deployed LabWare LIMS to standardize Laboratory Management for its bioanalysis and sample management operations. LabWare LIMS was adopted by sample management technicians to log samples, build and process batches, maintain chain of custody, and export sample inventories and run lists to Excel for downstream analysis.
The implementation centered on functional capabilities typical of Laboratory Management, including sample accessioning, batch creation for HBS request workflows such as check-out, dispose and return, sample tracking, and data export. Operational activities documented in the system included preparation and loading of runs into LC/MS instrumentation, standard and QC preparation, and handling of BBV and radioactive samples, reflecting integrated laboratory workflow support.
Operational coverage extended across sample management and bioanalysis teams, with daily communication between local stakeholders and global study teams to resolve issues and manage requests. Data workflows included exporting structured sample and batch data from LabWare LIMS and importing processed results into Watson LIMS for regression and downstream data processing, demonstrating cross-system data movement between LabWare LIMS and other laboratory information systems.
Governance and procedural changes focused on formalizing batch handling and HBS request processes within the LabWare LIMS application, clarifying responsibilities for check-out, disposal, and return workflows, and using the system to enforce sample logging and traceability. The LabWare LIMS deployment served as the primary Laboratory Management record for sample tracking and batch orchestration within LGC’s bioanalytical laboratory operations.
