In 2018 Li & Fung implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment was positioned to centralize corporate finance, accounting and statutory reporting capabilities across the distribution business, with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations application serving as the core ERP Financial system for finance functions.
Technical solution design work for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations implementation included configuration of standard ERP Financial capabilities such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and financial reporting workflows, consistent with enterprise financial management practice. Architecture and deployment planning documented an Azure-centric topology, and the implementation explicitly integrated Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations with an Azure Data Lake to consolidate transactional financial data and support downstream analytics and data orchestration.
Operationally the upgrade and deployment effort was led by an IT Manager based in Hong Kong beginning in December 2018, responsible for technical solution design and deployment governance. Governance emphasis included configuration management, staged upgrade control and coordination between finance and IT teams, with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations rollout scoped to support enterprise financial operations within Li & Fung.
