| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2020 | 2021 |
In 2020 Long Island Power Authority implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial application. A companion DocuSign integration and automation initiative began in December 2020 and remains active to orchestrate signature workflows tied to the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations environment.
The implementation delivered DocuSign templates and DocuSign Power Forms, configured signer workflows, and embedded form validations to support business rules. Automated cloud workflows were built using Power Automate Flow and Power Apps to generate DocuSign PDF documents by mapping dynamic data retrieved from SharePoint forms and other LIPA systems, then store PDFs to network shares or attach them to LIPA systems.
The technical architecture combines SharePoint Online, Power Automate Flow, a queued Windows service, and server hosted queued API services with .Net 4.5, C#.Net, and Log4Net to orchestrate the signature lifecycle. The integration uses OAuth Authentication and the DocuSign API with JWT assertion based impersonation to submit envelope definitions, and integrates DocuSign for SharePoint Online so that fully signed PDFs are automatically attached to the relevant SharePoint document libraries.
Operational scope spans HR, IT, Procurement, Finance, and Legal departments, with DocuSign user management centralized under an Org Admin account and separate DocuSign accounts provisioned for distinct business processes. Governance and rollout included requirements gathering, technical design, sandbox demo and production environments, promotion of DocuSign integration keys from sandbox to production during go live, deployment of queued API services to servers, and comprehensive documentation including user manuals, developer manuals, Visio workflow diagrams, demo recordings, and DocuSign administration documents.
