| Medical Information Technology | Legacy | MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS) | Electronic Health Record | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2023 | 2023 | In 2023 Loretto Hospital implemented MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS) Electronic Health Record. The community-based hospital in Chicago serves over 33,000 patients annually, and the 550-employee organization adopted the MaaS subscription to access the cloud-hosted Expanse platform as part of MEDITECH's broader 2023 activity in which 37 hospitals selected the MaaS cloud-based subscription model and MEDITECH announced its 100th Expanse MaaS customer. The deployment delivered the MEDITECH Expanse web-native platform through MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS), emphasizing mobile and web-native clinical workflows. Implemented capabilities align with standard Electronic Health Record functionality, including clinical documentation, computerized provider order entry, unified inpatient and outpatient record access, and configurable clinical workflows to support physicians and nursing staff. The MaaS approach provided a full-service cloud-hosted deployment, shifting hosting and routine platform maintenance to MEDITECH while enabling integration with the hospital's care delivery and administrative processes. Operationally the implementation covered clinical operations, care coordination across inpatient and outpatient settings, and patient administration, impacting physicians, nursing, and central administrative teams at Loretto Hospital. Governance and rollout leveraged MEDITECH's subscription onboarding model, which MEDITECH described as reducing upfront capital and staffing demands and improving onboarding efficiency. The hospital retained configuration independence while using the MaaS subscription to free internal resources for other projects, reflecting explicit vendor statements about MaaS lowering procurement and human resource barriers. |
