In 2014, Lumileds implemented SAP Concur Invoice as an AP Automation solution to centralize accounts payable and invoice processing for finance and accounts payable teams in Malaysia. The deployment focused on standardizing invoice capture, approval routing, and receipt claiming across corporate finance and manufacturing site accounting groups.
The SAP Concur Invoice configuration included invoice capture with optical character recognition, automated matching workflows, configurable approval routing, and vendor invoice lifecycle management. Receipt detail validation and a mandatory claiming process were configured so receipts must be checked and claimed correctly into the CONCUR system before invoices advanced in the workflow.
The solution was provisioned as a cloud hosted SaaS environment, leveraging Concur processing for invoice ingestion and workflow orchestration. The implementation was designed to exchange posting information and supplier status with Lumileds enterprise finance systems through secured interfaces, and it enforced role based access controls for AP clerks and approvers.
Governance and rollout emphasized process changes in accounts payable, including enforced receipt verification, training for AP and accounting staff on claiming receipts into SAP Concur Invoice, configured approval thresholds, and audit trails for invoice exception handling and month end close support. Operational ownership remained with finance and accounts payable, with policies updated to require validated receipt claims as part of the invoice approval workflow.

Governance focused on formalized business processes, access controls, and ongoing configuration stewardship to maintain data integrity and HR operational continuity.

In 2015, Lumileds implemented SAP Concur Travel as its Travel Management system to centralize corporate travel and expense workflows across finance and treasury. The deployment included a designated regional administration role for EMEA and positioned SAP Concur Travel as the primary tool supporting travel booking, expense reporting, approvals, and policy enforcement for the company.
Configuration work focused on expense and travel policy controls, automated approval routing, and regional administration capabilities in Concur, aligned with typical Travel Management functional modules such as booking workflow, expense capture, and compliance checks. Concur was configured to support collaboration with procure to pay accountants and local business units for timely payment handling, and to accept manual payment inputs issued by financial directors when required.
The implementation integrated Concur operationally with executing and processing payments in SAP, and with bank channels including Citibank and Bank of America through banking and payment platforms. Day to day operations included preparing payment batches, creating manual payments in the bank platforms, and processing treasury internal payment transfers, while finance teams ran payment analysis and optimization of bank charges.
Governance centered on continuous review and improvement of internal payment controls and processes, liaison with Treasury Managers and the Director to ensure smooth end to end payment processing, and interaction with internal and external auditors to prepare audited data and respond to queries. The program also incorporated short term financial forecasting, preparation and verification of process description documents, and leading and participating in projects to implement improvements and standardization and to define new processes based on business requests.
