In 2022, Meliá Hotels International integrated SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central into a broader Core HR and analytics modernization to centralize HR master data and reporting across its cloud and on-premise estate. The initiative was driven by the need to consolidate planning and reporting workflows and to connect on-premise SAP products with third-party cloud platforms to enable cross analytics and unified HR reporting.
The implementation created an internal HR model in SAP Datasphere and a first dashboard in SAP Analytics Cloud, with explicit coverage of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, and SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals. The configuration emphasized data warehousing and consolidation, enriching the SAP Datasphere model with external talent and engagement sources such as Cornerstone and e-Motiva, and linking to existing Microsoft Power BI dashboards to preserve established reporting views.
Architecturally, the solution leverages SAP Datasphere native integration to SAP BW/4HANA where financial data resides, and connects to SAP Analytics Cloud for visualization and planning. The landscape includes integrations with on-premise SAP ERP systems, SAP Business Planning and Consolidation for BW/4HANA, cloud environments on Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, and client tooling such as SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office. Implementation support and specific tasks were delivered by IBSap Consulting S.L., SDG Group, and AC eSolutions, including data source connection setup, single sign on configuration, HR model development, and sustainability reporting stories.
Governance and rollout followed a phased approach, involving main business units in adaptation and aligning with the group s supply side platform evolution. The group planned a staged delivery of its information reporting project within the year, migration of CRM data into SAP BW/4HANA via SAP Datasphere, consideration of an internal control system for nonfinancial information, and proof of concept work in 2025 to evaluate SAP Analytics Cloud planning capabilities against the existing SAP Business Planning and Consolidation model. Post migration of its ERP to SAP S/4HANA, Meliá intends to connect CDS views via operational data provisioning into SAP Datasphere and move group reporting from Analysis for Microsoft Office to the cloud ERP.
The deployment achieved measurable consolidation of analytics sources, establishing eight data source connections to SAP Datasphere and centralizing more than 350 sustainability and social KPIs. Connectivity improvements reduced the time to onboard a new data source to about six hours, and the HR dashboard in SAP Analytics Cloud supplied HR teams with improved visibility into recruitment and training metrics at the hotel level, supporting broader self service analytics for business analysts.

Operationally the implementation reoriented workflows toward centralized data and standardized processes, enabling teams to automate repetitive tasks and improve front desk and guest services coordination. The consolidated platform and OHIP connectivity supported more consistent governance of guest data and reporting, and enabled Meliá to deliver more personalized and frictionless arrival and in stay experiences, as described by the company.
