In 2015 Men_at_Work implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core financial and back office system, deploying the application to consolidate financial processes and support retail merchandise operations. Men_at_Work is part of Varova Fashion and this implementation coincided with the company headquarters move from Best to Amsterdam and the reorganization of a central six person back office team reporting to the Manager Merchandise Planning & Allocation.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment emphasized ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, financial master data controls, inventory valuation and financial posting integration with merchandising workflows. Functional configuration targeted merchandise planning and allocation workflows, order administration processes, and financial controls to support store level transactions and inventory accounting.
The implementation integrated SAP ERP ECC 6.0 with a Qlikview business intelligence layer to provide reporting and analytics across planning and finance, and it supported operational changes such as taking the logistics center from external management to internal management. Operational coverage included the back office team of two planners, one merchandiser, one order administrator, one Footwork coordinator and one denim coordinator, aligning finance and planning for the Netherlands retail footprint.
Program governance centered on embedding merchandise and planning knowledge and know-how into standard processes, with documented workflows for WSSI, drip planning and shop capabilities and role based responsibilities for planners and order administration. Rollout activities prioritized configuration of planning cadence and financial posting rules, training of the six person back office team, and orchestration of logistics and headquarters relocation to maintain operational continuity.
