In 2007 Mercury provisioned a public MantisBT instance to manage compiler and language bug reports and feature requests, aligning its issue management with IT Service Management practices. The MantisBT application operates as a web hosted issue tracker and ticketing system that centralizes developer-submitted compiler defects and enhancement requests. The deployment is a public instance accessible to contributors and users, serving as the authoritative bug and feature request repository for the Mercury programming language.
Operational ownership and governance for MantisBT is community driven, with maintenance performed by the Mercury community and contributors at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Functional workflows implemented include bug reporting, issue triage, defect tracking, status transitions and request categorization to support developer workflows and release planning. MantisBT is used to manage the issue workflow across compiler development, language features and associated tooling, with the MantisBT tracker serving as the central IT Service Management system for the project.
