Tata Consultancy Services Legacy TCS iON Digital Campus Education ERP ERP Services and Operations n/a 2014 2015
In 2014, MIT World Peace University implemented TCS iON Digital Campus, an Education ERP provided by Tata Consultancy Services. The deployment targeted the MIT group ecosystem spanning more than 10 campuses and 65 institutes with a combined student population exceeding 60,000, and was delivered as a cloud, pay-as-you-use service with resilience via backup data centers for business continuity. The implementation configured core Education ERP capabilities including online admissions with hall ticket generation, fee management and online fee remittance, student records and transcript issuance, attendance tracking, timetabling, examination management, library and hostel automation, and HR workflows for loans, performance appraisal and separation. TCS iON Digital Campus was used to standardize approval workflows across institutes, and the software was configured for multilingual labels and role-based access to reflect institutional governance and process requirements. Integration and operational coverage included direct bank remittance for online fee collection, an online recruitment portal connected to HR processes, email-based communications to parents and applicants, and automated reporting required by regulatory bodies such as the Directorate General for Shipping for attendance compliance. The solution synchronized data across student, fee, library, hostel, stores, timetable and exam subsections to provide a single source of operational data and a quantitative dashboard for management review. Governance changes included formalization of uniform processes and approval flows to reduce variance between colleges, deployment of management dashboards for periodic review, and automation of report generation to support ISO audits. Outcomes recorded in the implementation narrative included reduced manual effort across administrative functions, smoother ISO audits, improved cash flow through online fee collection, enhanced stakeholder communication, and identification of unused resources through timely visibility leading to cost savings.
