In 2019 National General, an Allstate Company implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as part of an ERP Financial program. The engagement included managing an E-Business Suite R12.2.10 upgrade project alongside an upgrade to Oracle Database 19c, with concurrent OS migrations for application and database servers.
Oracle E-Business Suite was configured to support core ERP Financial workflows while prioritizing application availability, backup automation, and database performance tuning. Database restore governance was formalized by creating an RMAN repository catalog to centralize backups and by defining restore policies, and extensive functional testing was executed across multiple environments to validate system functionality after upgrades.
Infrastructure and deployment architecture changes included transitioning databases from physical servers to Nutanix servers and performing coordinated OS migrations for apps and database hosts. These infrastructure moves were executed in concert with network, storage, and server teams and included lead disaster recovery workstreams for Oracle and Postgres databases, ensuring the application and database tiers and underlying virtualization and storage layers were aligned.
Operational governance covered hiring and onboarding processes and mentoring a three person DBA team to operate and sustain Oracle E-Business Suite. The E-Business Suite R12.2.10 and 19c database upgrade projects were successfully executed within a three month time frame, and migrations were completed with minimum downtime through scheduled cutovers, extensive testing, and resolution of external obstacles.
