In 2013, NatWest Group implemented Oracle E-Business Suite for ERP Financial. The Oracle E-Business Suite deployment was scoped to consolidate corporate finance and statutory reporting capabilities within the group's insurance finance function and central finance organization.
The implementation integrated core ERP Financial capabilities with an enterprise data and analytics layer, using OBIA, DAC, Informatica and Oracle Data Integrator for ETL and data warehousing feeds. Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition OBIEE was provisioned for operational and management reporting, while Hyperion and Essbase were retained for planning and multi-dimensional financial analysis, and Oracle Data Relationship Management DRM was used to govern chart of accounts and reference master data.
Architecturally the environment was orchestrated on Oracle Fusion Middleware components, including SOA services and WebCenter Portal WCP for composite applications and user portals, with ODI and Informatica managing bulk and near real time data movement. Identity and access management was integrated by connecting OAM and OID based IDAM into Fusion Middleware and Oracle E-Business Suite, providing centralized authentication and authorization across the ERP Financial landscape.
Governance and process changes emphasized master data stewardship and service oriented integration, with DRM and SOA layers enabling centralized change control and defined interfaces for finance processes. Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial was positioned as the authoritative transactional ledger, with analytics and planning systems consuming its data via the established integration stack.

| Workday | Oracle PeopleSoft Absence Management | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 NatWest Group implemented Workday Absence Management in its Absence and Leave Management portfolio. The implementation was part of a broader PeopleSoft to Workday migration that moved absence processing off Oracle PeopleSoft Absence Management into Workday and aligned absence workflows with core HR and payroll workstreams.
Workday Absence Management was configured to support leave plans, entitlement rules, accrual processing, absence event recording, and approval routing to mirror NatWest Group policies. The implementation emphasized configurability for statutory and contractual leave types, mapping of time-off balances into Workday absence plans, and workflow escalations to support manager approvals and HR case handling.
Project deliverables included formal requirements and a technical design for a Workday to NGA Resourcelink payroll interface, with requirements gathered from core HR, absence, compensation, and time tracking workstreams to ensure payroll compatibility. The overall delivery context also referenced technical design work for PeopleSoft to NGA Resourcelink and Unipay to NGA Resourcelink interfaces, plus batch testing activities tied to a PeopleSoft DB2 to Oracle move, indicating coordinated interface and batch validation efforts.
Governance and rollout work was led through analyst-written technical designs and revised batch specifications, environment management for BAU test teams, and analyst-led requirements gathering and batch testing. Workday Absence Management now underpins Absence and Leave Management and integrates with NatWest Group payroll and time tracking processes through designed interfaces and validated batch processes.

In 2019 NatWest Group implemented Pega Platform as its Business Process Management solution, deploying Pega Customer Decision Hub to centralize decisioning and orchestrate next-best-action strategies across its retail and commercial lines. The Pega Platform deployment was positioned to support personal banking, small business banking, and commercial and private wealth customer workflows, and it was used operationally during the COVID-19 response to adapt customer engagement quickly.
The implementation centered on Pega Customer Decision Hub capabilities for centralized decisioning, data consolidation, and analytics driven next-best-action orchestration. Configuration work emphasized rule-based decision strategies, channel-aware routing for inbound and outbound interactions, and the ability to author and update strategies once then propagate them across channels, ensuring consistent business process execution.
Operational coverage included physical channels such as branches and call-centers, plus digital channels customized to preserve service without in-branch visits, and dedicated call-center flows for health service professionals. The deployment consolidated decision logic and analytics on Pega Platform, enabling consistent execution across 25 communication channels and supporting employee mobilization to remote work while keeping branch operations running.
Governance and process changes focused on centralized ownership of next-best-action strategies and a rapid rollout model where changes to decision rules were authored centrally and deployed across channels. Gordon Jackson Head of Transformation, Data Analytics at NatWest noted that Pega helped identify customers who needed help and enabled proactive outreach, a capability that was instrumental during the pandemic. The implementation resulted in explicit operational outcomes reported by the bank, including keeping over 90% of branches open, mobilizing employees to work from home, and delivering personalized communications across 25 channels.
