In 2022, Nordic Paper upgraded to IFS Cloud ERP as its ERP Financial solution, moving its enterprise asset management and finance footprint onto the IFS Cloud platform. The cloud deployment was implemented by IFS channel partner Novacura and was provisioned for approximately 400 users located at Nordic Paper headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden and across its Scandinavian paper mills. Nordic Paper operates five paper mills including sites in Scandinavia and Canada, and the IFS Cloud ERP deployment was positioned to serve operations across those manufacturing sites and corporate finance.
The implementation leverages the full IFS Cloud ERP application name across integrated modules, with explicit use of Maintenance, Finance, and Procurement functionality. Configuration focused on enterprise asset management and maintenance planning workflows, core financial processes and procurement lifecycle management, aligning operational maintenance execution with finance and purchasing transactions. IFS Cloud ERP was used to centralize transaction processing and maintenance records in a single data model to reduce fragmentation between shop floor maintenance and back office finance operations.
Architecturally the deployment uses IFS Cloud as a centrally managed cloud instance, operated by the vendor and channel partner, to improve system uptime and security posture cited by the customer. The rollout targeted headquarters and mill operational systems rather than introducing named third party integrations, keeping the initial scope on native IFS Cloud module interoperation across maintenance, procurement and financial ledgers. Novacura executed the implementation tasks with coordination between IT and mill operations to align cutover windows and user provisioning for the 400 named users.
Governance and operational objectives were framed around digitalization of operations, maximizing uptime, enhancing security and strengthening maintenance capabilities, with the vendor messaging that the IFS Cloud ERP platform would provide a sustainable foundation for future growth. The engagement emphasized cross-functional ownership between maintenance, operations, procurement and finance teams, and leveraged the IFS Cloud ERP application to unify asset, purchasing and financial information for improved operational control.
