In 2010 Nordion implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial system. The implementation was positioned to align IT applications with business strategy and to consolidate core finance processes within a single Oracle E-Business Suite instance for the company operating in healthcare.
The Oracle E-Business Suite deployment focused on standard ERP Financial modules, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting and budgeting capabilities. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts rationalization, approval workflow automation for payables and receivables, and controls instrumentation consistent with centralized financial accounting and month-end close orchestration.
Integrations were explicitly scoped with SharePoint to manage supporting documentation and audit artifacts, and the project tied ERP operational changes into the organizations change management program. Operational coverage targeted finance and compliance functions across Nordion, with ERP transactional flows aligned to existing IT service management practices.
Governance for the Oracle E-Business Suite rollout incorporated formal change management, ITIL operational processes, and Compliance and SOX controls to enforce segregation of duties and auditability. Process redesign centered on standardized approval workflows, documented control procedures, and an operational model that linked application configuration to compliance evidence requirements.
