In 2009 Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation Inc. upgraded its HRIS to Microsoft Dynamics GP in an ERP Financial implementation supporting HR and payroll operations. The engagement retired the home grown Total HR system and established Microsoft Dynamics GP as the core HRIS for employee master data and payroll interfacing across the organization.
Implementation work focused on configuring Microsoft Dynamics GP for core HR capabilities, payroll interfaces, and reporting automation, aligning personnel records, compensation data, and payroll posting processes. The HRIS was integrated with the Kronos system for time and leave management and accrual balances, and with the GP Payroll system to carry pay calculations and payroll processing functions. Automation of process interfaces synchronized employee data, time and leave records, and accruals, and produced consolidated HR and payroll reports.
Operational scope covered HR and payroll functions across the foundation, with configuration to centralize employee master data and to feed downstream payroll and reporting systems. Governance and process changes included retiring the home grown Total HR application, instituting scheduled interface and reconciliation processes between Kronos and Microsoft Dynamics GP, and restructuring HR to payroll data flows to support automated reporting.

| UKG | Legacy | UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) | Time and Attendance | HCM | n/a | 2010 | 2010 |
In 2010, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation Inc. implemented UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper for Time and Attendance to centralize timekeeping, leave management, and accrual balances across the organization. The deployment was scoped as part of an HRIS modernization that included retiring a home grown Total HR system and upgrading to Microsoft Great Plains HR, with interfaces connecting payroll and time systems to maintain employee time and accrual data.
The implementation included functional modules and custom extensions beyond core time capture, including time and leave management, accrual balance handling, custom dashboarding for clinical groups, and audit-capable automation for Meaningful Use workflows. A radiology dashboard application was built using WCF services combined with a Cache routine to surface near real time views. Several WCF services were developed to expose custom patient demographics and to automate creation and association of myPatientList entries, and a one click promotion process was created to move diagnoses retrieved from Clarity into Epic problem lists via interconnect messaging.
Integrations were extensive and explicitly implemented, keeping Epic at the center of clinical interoperability. Epic was integrated with iCare using HL7 for centralized vaccination records in real time, Athena data was converted into Epic via SSIS that populated CSV files, and Clarity patient data was linked to research studies by passing HL7 messages to Chronicle programming through the research interface bridge. Active medications were retrieved from Epic using a custom Cache program via interconnect HL7 messages, Cerner PACS images were displayed inside the Epic Image tab, and employee demographic feeds were synchronized from Microsoft Great Plains into Epic and into the UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper environment. GoAnyWhere was installed and configured for managed file transfer and SSRS reports were produced from Clarity for operational reporting.
Governance and process work focused on MU compliance, auditability, and automated interface orchestration. Automated processes with auditing were developed to meet Meaningful Use requirements, and SSIS packages, WCF endpoints, Cache routines, and interconnect HL7 flows were used to standardize data movements and reduce manual handoffs. The technology portfolio used in the program included SSIS ETL, SQL Server 2005 and 2008, Reporting Services, WCF and WF, AppFabric, Silver light 5 and HTML5 front ends, C sharp and ASP.Net, VS Business Intelligence, TFS 2010, MS GP 10, and GoAnyWhere, which collectively supported the Time and Attendance implementation, clinical integrations, and HRIS consolidation.
