In 2013, OCI N.V. configured SAP Business Suite as part of an ERP Financial program to support its wholly owned subsidiary Iowa Fertilizer and the green field ammonia and fertilizer facility in Wever, Iowa. The $1.8 billion plant was planned to be up and running in late 2015 with an output target of roughly 1.5 to 2 million tons of fertilizer per year, creating a clear operational requirement for integrated finance, materials and maintenance processes.
SAP Business Suite deployment for the Iowa site delivered core MM and FiCo functionality which went live in Q2 2014, followed by a first wave of SAP PM in Q3 2014 that was implemented to connect to FiCo and MM. The PM rollout was scoped to expand over subsequent months to cover the complete set of maintenance requirements, with PM activities aligned to standard maintenance planning and work order management workflows common to plant maintenance implementations.
The engagement was executed as a green field implementation with end to end consultancy activities spanning blueprinting, prototyping, configuration and customizing, plus creation of training content and delivery of training to operational teams. Integration touch points explicitly included finance and materials management, and the implementation focused operational coverage on the Iowa Fertilizer site while aligning with OCI N.V. corporate reporting and governance expectations.
